After finishing up my review on Monument Valley 1 I immediately booted up Monument Valley 2. I got greeted to a very similar introduction with an abstract play area to manipulate. It's a simple gear to turn like last time, however this time we have a different looking protagonist (Ro) accompanied by a smaller companion (Ro's daughter).
Monument Valley 2 is very similar to the original. The same thought of puzzle design is used here again. This time with a story revolved around a mother and daughter bond. I'm glad there is a more interesting story than the first game. The first game's non nonexistent vague story isn't a bad thing but the sequel giving a simple addition to the narrative is cute. It's nice seeing these little interactions with the characters and how they react to small main events within the narrative. It even shows up in gameplay. Using Ro's daughter for puzzles adds a small yet nice layer to the gameplay experience. At a certain point there's a split path and you even catch up and play the game through some levels as Ro's daughter.
This review is short. This game is very very similar to the first, the same things that made the first unique applies here. I think if you're interested in either of these games then you should just buy and play both for a more full experience.
